The Child of God Preschool serves children 3 to 5 years of age. All children must be completely toilet trained.
HALF-DAY PRESCHOOL Classes
Morning half-day preschool class hours are from 9:00 -11:25 AM.
Child of God Preschool offers the following half-day classes for children 3 to 5 years of age:
2-Day Class for 3 - 4 Year-Olds (T/TH) This is our introductory preschool classroom for those who only desire a two-day per week program. Children must be 3 years old before being placed in this classroom. The children in these classes focus on developing social skills, increasing vocabulary, following the routine and transitions, and learning how to problem-solve and following directions from the teacher. These classes will begin to focus on alphabet recognition and name writing as the children are individually ready. They have circle time with some structure and complexity to increase the children's attention span. This class has a morning and afternoon option. 3-Day Class for 4 - 5 Year-Olds (T/W/TH) This is a Pre-K classroom for 4 to 5 year-old children. Children must be 4 by September 30 to be placed in the this class unless approved by the director. In this classroom, the lesson plans incorporate the Ohio Department of Education (ODE)Early Learning and Development Standards to help prepare the children for kindergarten. Emphasis is placed on alphabet and number recognition, counting, sorting, and writing as well as math and science concepts. All of these skills are taught through fun hands-on activities and caring teacher/child interaction. More in-depth social skills and problem solving skills are reinforced. The children are taught to work through their problems with each other on their own as their social skills increase. They learn concepts that will last a lifetime. 4-Day Class for 4 - 5 Year-Olds (M-TH) This is a Pre-K classroom for 4-5 year old children, and is also a great option for those children who need an extra year of preschool. In this classroom, the lesson plans incorporate the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Early Learning and Development Standards to help prepare the children for kindergarten. This classroom is more structured with emphasis put on problem- solving skills involving math and science and regular practice with writing. Recognizing alphabet letters, sounds, and rhyming is reinforced daily. Again, all of these skills are taught through fun hands-on activities and caring teacher/child interaction. The children are taught to work through their problems with each other on their own as their social skills increase. They learn concepts that will last a lifetime. FULL DAY PRESCHOOL Class
Child of God Preschool offers the following full day class for children ages 4-5. Our full day class hours are from 9:00-2:25.
3-Day Full Day Class for 4-5 Year-Olds (T/W/Th) This is a Pre-K classroom for 4-5 year old children. Children must by 4 by September 30 to be placed in the full day class. In this classroom, the lesson plans incorporate the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Early Learning and Development Standards to help prepare the children for kindergarten. Emphasis is placed on kindergarten readiness academic skills as well as important social emotional skills needed to navigate life. There will be regular practice with writing and sounding out words as those skills develop. The children are taught to speak for themselves to solve problems with peers and are encouraged to develop independence skills needed for future education. As with the half day classes, these skills are taught through fun hands-on activities and caring teacher/child interaction. With the full day option, children will have more consistent learning opportunities.
School Closing Policy for Inclement Weather
The Preschool will be closed when the Newark City Schools are closed for the day for weather related closings. We will post on Bloomz and Facebook closing information. If Newark City Schools are on a 2 hour delay, the preschool will begin at regular time. The administrator and/or staff members will post on the Bloomz app and Facebook if school will be closed on a day when Newark city schools are open. Once 5 days are missed in a class, make up remote learning activities will be offered for each calamity day after 5. As always it is the parent’s discretion if their child attends school on an inclement weather day. We understand that road condition vary around the county.
